At another university I worked at the school allowed restuarants and private vendors to set up mini trailers in various areas on campus. We had choices from pizza (Double Daves was the vendor), sandwiches and salads (Panera), and one private vendor had a great taco stand that sold everything from breakfast tacos to nachos. Create ways to reward staff/faculty who directly impact student's quality of experience. Call it something like the "Maverick Motivator Award" that staff/faculty can be nominated by any student at any time. Anyone who is nominated would get recognized and those most nominated would get more recognition of some sort. Install vending machines in the campus buildings stocked with academic supplies such as pens, pencils, highlighters, CDs/DVDs, flash drives, scan-trons, essay booklets (required for some exams), grid-paper, index cards, calculators, batteries, headphones, etc. Setup up the vending machines to accept cash / credit cards / MavMoney as payment. I think it would help the Work Studies moral if they had competitions like the "Blazing Race" among themselves. They need to have some fun and get door prizes and refreshments too.
As a nursing student, I have a lot of books. The library is my second home. When I leave, it's usually for a food break. It is painful carrying my books back and forth and I'm sure many students feel the same way. I see a lot of people leaving their things out in the open, hours at a time, trusting that no one would steal their items.
