Start offering afternoon, evening and weekend courses on a bigger scale. We are already heating/cooling the buildings and lighting them, why not use them.

Let Faculty/Staff know about Maverick Discount Program

The Maverick Discount Program is for students, faculty and staff. If you show your Maverick ID at certain area businesses you receive discounts on different types of services. The current program is listed on the Student Congress site, but it would be nice for Human Resources to list it as well. Opt out option for insurance

I know the cost of benefits is something that is constantly increasing. So instead of either making everyone pay for their own or raising the cost, offer benefits meaning for those employees covered under a different policy under a parent/spouse etc, they can opt out so it would reduce the Universities cost.

Scaled Pay Cut Before Layoffs

As a last resort, rather than layoffs in this uncertain job market, perhaps a temporary pay cut on linear scale where the more earned the larger the percentage cut.

Time Cards in Peoplesoft

Departments and schools do timecards differently throughout the University. Can the University have a timecard online? I know that in my previous employment we used Peoplesoft to clock in and out of the office. To my understanding some departments are using online time clocks as well, which has been okayed by HR. If the University were able to use the computer instead of paper this would help with printing costs. This ...more »
